Why Diets Fail

The Problem…

According to the Federal Trade Commission, the percentage of Americans who begin a weight loss diet each year and then regain all or more of the weight they lost is over 95%. Most diet plans deprive the body of vital nutrients that are essential to good health. Furthermore, most diet plans are not designed to address the problem of insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance, also known as the metabolic syndrome, is a major culprit in the overwhelming number of obesity and diabetes cases. Insulin resistance means that you are not as sensitive to insulin as you once were. It does not just develop all of a sudden. It is a result of years of daily choices.

The body compensates for this abnormal metabolic state by increasing the production of insulin. This leads to a constellation of problems that is referred to as the metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance. Over time, blood pressure rises, bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels increase and good cholesterol decreases. An increase in waist size is evident increasing the risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.

Insulin resistance causes our bodies to hold on to fat like a sponge holds on to water. Our waist line expands and our bodies are resistant to weight loss. Frustration develops when diets have short term or no results. Until the underlying insulin resistance is reversed, we are unlikely to lose weight no matter how hard we try.

The Weight Stays On Because…

  • Diets based on calorie counting restrict food until the goal is met. We then return to old eating habits. The solution is a permanent lifestyle change.
  • Fad diets equate to unbalanced nutrition. Many focus on specific types of food or nutrients. The solution is a healthy balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.
  • High-glycemic foods first spike and then drop our blood sugar, leading to a rapid return of hunger. The solution is a diet that includes low-glycemic carbohydrates, leaving you feeling full and satisfied longer.

Healthy For Life

The Solution…

Medical literature shows us that a key solution to the problem of the metabolic syndrome is developing healthier lifestyles that improve insulin sensitivity.

Through the Healthy for Life Program we use documented science to offer a simple, innovative solution for lifestyle change. You will learn what to do and how to do it easily.

The Healthy Triad…

Healthy Diet
The Healthy for Life Program emphasizes learning how to eat a diet of healthy proteins, low-glycemic carbohydrates, and beneficial fats that won’t spike your blood sugar. The focus is on the quality of the individual proteins, carbohydrates and fats you choose to eat. We don’t teach you how to diet; we teach you how to eat.

Modest Exercise Program
Aerobic exercise significantly improves insulin sensitivity (a fundamental key to weight loss). Medical literature shows that walking briskly for 30 minutes five times a week improves insulin sensitivity. It doesn’t matter what you do; however it is critical that you do something to begin moving again. The important thing is choosing an exercise program that is comfortable for you and one that you will not find boring. A blend of several different activities is even better. Starting slow and building up to the recommended level of exercise is recommended.

Cellular Nutrition
Cellular nutrition is a critical aspect of the Healthy for Life Program and is another key to improving insulin sensitivity. It enhances our antioxidant defense system, our immune system, and our body’s repair system. Most chronic degenerative diseases like heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and arthritis begin at the cellular level. Maintaining optimal health requires optimal cellular nutrition. To accomplish this, the Healthy for Life Program recommends using pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements to help achieve optimal levels of essential micronutrients.

You are urged and advised to seek the advice of a physician if you intend to change your diet, begin an exercise program, are under the age of 18, are pregnant or lactating, have allergies, are taking medications, or are under the care of a physician. As with any health or fitness program, a sensible eating plan and regular exercise are required in order to achieve long-term results. Results will vary.
